This image was going to be my Front Cover, but I think that it'll be far more benefical for this to be the main image in my Contents Page. It shows the seriousness of the character and relates well with the Front Cover as the artist himself rather than what's on display. There is a bit of low key lighting on the side of the subjects face with would make it bad if it were on the front. It'll be better on the Contents page as this image isn't going to be the only image, hence the focus will not just be on him - and with the subject posing sideways, the subject looks more of an artist rather then a normal person.
This image was quite hard to pick out in comparison to my other double page spread candidates, but this one pipped the edge as it shows more of the artisit and there is plenty of room for text on the side and above the subject. The lighting is low key - but the subject does tend to shine out and goes well with the black background and really does seem to stand out to the readers and catches the eye quite easily. Also the fact that he is staring at the camrea comes through the genre once again and has the expression that we are about to learn a little bit about him.
This is an image of my brother which will be used in the Contents Page. His clothing really goes with the genre as does his NVC's - and with the setting being at night in a local neighbourhood really brinds up the hip-hop feel of the street. This image was going to be my Front Cover - but I think that the other image as a subject more related to Hip-Hop and the one problem with this image would be him looking away from the camrea - so it would be ideal for this to be a Contents Page rather then the Front Cover.
One's I didn't use
As you can see, this image is very similar to the image that I've chosen for my Contents page. In this one, the readers will see less of the subjects' face and his accessories like his hat and headphones do seem to be the main eye-catcher rather than the subject himself which is one reason why it wasn't used. The other thing was the low key lighting on the side of his face, although the image I've chosen has this as well - it isn't as bad as this one, the subject's pose is more 'looking away' from the reader - which doesn't reveal much of his artist identity.
